DESCRIPTION
The EBO Surf School has been rated British Surfing Associaition (BSA) Level 4, the highest rating a school registered with
the National Governing Body that can be achieved.
With every surf session we teach the basic safety skills, so with all of our knowledge, we can ensure that you will be
guaranteed to have a great time. All of the surf instructors are qualified beach lifeguards and British Surfing Association
surf coaches.
As well as providing high quality wetsuits, a selection of soft surfboards are available for the beginner. We also have
mini-malls, short boards and long boards for the intermediate, or experienced surfer. Intermediate and advanced clients
can also receive coaching using their own equipment to improve their technique.

EBO SURFING LESSON LEVEL 0 – INTRODUCTION TO SURFING
- Introduction to surfing equipment
- Basic warming up and stretching exercises for surfers
- Surf Paddling techniques
- Standing up and surfing broken waves
- The “duck-dive” or “eskimo-roll” in all surf conditions
EBO SURFING LESSON LEVEL 1 – BEGINNER TO IMPROVER SURFING PROGRAMME

EBO lessons in Cornwall are run from our Cornish surf school on the on the outskirts of Newquay, at Holywell Bay, Cornwall.
Devon
EBO lessons in Devon are run from Croyde or Westward Ho in Devon.
Wales
Lessons in Wales are run from many locations including Freshwater West.

January 2008 - EBO sponsor Duncan Scott and wish him the best in his Tow Surf competition in the Canaries.

March 2007 - EBO have supported Duncan Scott in his attempt to break the world record for riding a wave for the

BSA SURF INSTRUCTOR AND NARS COURSES
EBO Adventure Offers BSA Level 1 and 2 Surf Instructor Courses that will allow you to teach beginners the basics of
surfing. The awards are valid for 3 years. Below is some more info on the BSA Surf Coach Programme.
BSA Surf Coach Programme
The BSA Surfing Coach Accreditation Scheme is structured to train and accredit surf coaches at various levels right up to
professional contest coach. It also allows high standards to be maintained throughout all BSA approved surf schools
throughout the UK.
The BSA encourages Surf Coaches to expand their knowledge and experience by attending coaching courses run by other
organisations such as the National Coaching Foundation (NCF) and NARS lifesaving courses run by the Surf Life Saving
Association (SLSA).
Each of the BSA Surf Coach Awards is valid for 3 years and there is a detailed syllabus (and course manual) for each of
the 3 Levels and for the Trainer / Assessor's Award.
NARS Lifesaving Courses
EBO is accredited to teach the NARS Beach Lifeguard courses.
The National Aquatic Rescue Standard Beach Lifeguard Award (NARS BL) is an intensive six day course, comprised of five full
days of training and one full day of examination, to gain an internationally recognized vocational qualification. Valid
for three years, the NaRS BL award is a test of the student’s personal fitness; practical lifeguard skills and knowledge;
rescue skills; life support and first aid.
The course is designed to run over a minimum of 40 hours, plus completion of worksheets in non-course time. Candidates must
also, as pre-requisites of the course, be able to complete a timed swim of 400m in 7 minutes and 30 seconds and a 200m run
in 40 seconds. Courses are suitable for all those aged 16 years and above and qualifications are valid for 36 months.
