When considering training courses to launch your future career, one of the major factors affecting your decision is
inevitably the cost. At EBO we are confident that our training and on-going support represents the very best available and
our qualifications enhance any Curriculum Vitae. However, we are conscious that the investment in training can be beyond
the means of many and we hope that the following information will be helpful.
The most common source of funding is the Career Development Loan (CDL). Since they were launched in 1988 CDLs have helped
tens of thousands of people to give their careers a lift. Backed by the Department of Employment & Education the CDL is
recognised by three major banks, Barclays, Royal Bank of Scotland and Co-op.
A CDL allows the student to borrow anything from £300 to £8000 for course fees, accommodation and incidental expenses in
connection with a training course. The interest on the loan is covered by the Department of Employment and Education for
the duration of the course and for up to one month after completion. The banks allow the student up to five years to
repay the borrowing and will allow repayments to be deferred in the event of financial hardship.
A CDL application form can be obtained from any of the Banks named above, your local TEC, Job Centre or call the CDL
helpline on 0800 585 505.
The main criteria of eligibility for the above scheme is that the student is a UK resident and is aged 18 years or above.
